Nominate a Staff Member of the Year
DCR1 is accepting nominations for Staff Member of the Year. Staff members include administrative professionals, bus drivers/mechanics, custodians/maintenance, food service workers, nurses, paraprofessionals, or social worker. Father Daughter Dance
Buffalo Band PTO and Bison Pride Band will host the annual Father Daughter Dance for students pre-K through 6th grade. The dance will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 6-9  p.m. at the Buffalo Prairie Middle School. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased from Melissa Duskin at BPMS. You can contact her by email melissa.duskin@bisonpride.org.
Summer School Dates Set
DCR1 has scheduled summer school from May 31 to June 27. Mallory Elementary, Buffalo Prairie Middle School and Buffalo High School will each offer remediation and enrichment programming from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The district will provide transportation to the usual summer school bus stops. All students living in the district can take advantage of the free summer meals program for breakfast and lunch during summer school. Breakfast is served at 7:45 a.m. ant lunch at 11:30 a.m. Each building will be making their summer school information available in the next few months. Summer school information will be included on our website.
Ms. Clark Receives Award
We are excited to share that Ms. Abby Clark, one of our new 4th grade teachers, is being recognized as MSTA's Southwest Region Rookie Teacher of the Year.  She will receive her award at the Spring TEPS meeting/dinner on April 3 at 4:30 at the Oasis Convention Center in Springfield. Go Bison!
Robin Wheeler Receives Literacy Award
Mrs. Robin Wheeler was awarded the Lakes Country Council Literacy Award presented by the International Reading Association, March 1, 2017 at Smith' s Restaurant in Bolivar. ​Each year the association recognizes an educator for his/her commitment to literacy. Mrs. Wheeler is an outstanding educator and has exceled as the Reading Recovery teacher at Mallory Elementary. Go Bison!
Kindergarten screening


Kindergarten Screening
D. A. Mallory Elementary will be screening students for the 2017-2018 Kindergarten class on April 24-25.  Screenings will take place in the FEMA.  All families must pre-register by calling the school office at 417-345-2350 to reserve your spot.  Students must be five years of age by July 31, 2017.  A parent or guardian must accompany their student to the screening.  Screenings will last about one hour. 

Please bring the following:
  • Birth Certificate/Proof of Age
  • Shot Record
  • Proof of Residency
  • Insurance Card
  • Custody Papers (if applicable)
(Preschool student screenings will begin on Wednesdays May 3 – 17, 2017.  Appointments will be taken after April 1st)



 
What A Shot!
Our Archery teams recently competed. Our placers are as follows:

1st Place Elementary Girls Division (4th and 5th Grade) with a score of 159: Zoie Souza
 
4th Place Middle School Girls Division with a score of 257: Mikala Crites
3rd Place Middle School Girls Division with a score of 258: Allyson Sawyer
1st Place Middle School Girls Division with a score of 275: Madison Eckenrod (State Qualifying)
1st Place Middle School Boys Division with a score of 271: Allen Reeves (State Qualifying)
The Buffalo Prairie Middle School Archery team won 1st Place in the Team Division with a STATE QUALIFYING SCORE of 3,083! We're going to state!!!​

2nd Place High School Girls Division with a score of 274: Dominque Wong (State Qualifying)
1st Place High School Girls Division with a score of 277: Abigail Stark (State Qualifying)
1st Place High School Boys Division with a score of 281 Dalton Beamon (State Qualifying)

Kindergarten Prep for Preschool Families

Will your child be attending Dallas County Kindergarten

in the Fall of 2017?  

Then this is for you!

 

Parents and children are invited to Dallas County Early Childhood Center, 818 W. Main, Buffalo for Kindergarten Prep for Pre-Kindergarteners (children born August 1, 2011-July 31, 2012). All meetings will be on Wednesdays and will last about 75 minutes.  

 

Choose from two sessions - 9:00am  or  1:00pm

 

February 1 - "Early Literacy for your Child"

February 15 - "The Numbers Game"

March 1 - "Motor skills and Games"

March 15 - "Book Building"

March 29 - "My Growing Body"

 

Each family will leave with a game, ideas, and resources every week.

 

Kindergarten Jamboree will be Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at Mallory Elementary during "Movin on Up Family Night".
